MAKE TREMENDOUS POWER AVAILABLE
(Prayer Is What Gives Power To Your Words)
đ ââŠThe earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].â (James 5:16 AMPC)
Did you ever try to drive a car or truck without turning the ignition on? If you did, you would have found out that vehicle wasnât going anywhere unless the engine was started first. The same thing applies when it comes to your words and prayers: before you make public declarations of Godâs Word, youâve got to have a private time of prayer first! Prayer is like the key that turns on the ignition and starts the car engine.
Many Christians speak forth words ever before spending quality time in prayer, and then they wonder why their declarations arenât effective. Hereâs the deal: change comes through your words after youâve stirred up power in prayer. When youâve made power available, then you can make proclamations of faith, and the change you desire will be established.
Take Elijahâs story in 1 Kings 17-18 for example. He prayed earnestly, and a drought hit the land for three-and-a-half yearsânot a drop of rain! (James 5:17). When it was time for the rain to return, Elijah prayed again. But it wasnât just a quick âGod, bring the rainâ kind of prayer. He prayed hard and long for several hours, maybe even days.
He sent out his servant six times to see if there was a sign as he continued in prayer, expecting an answer. The servant came back the seventh time and said, âI see a small cloud, very small, like the size of a manâs hand, rising out of the sea.â That was all Elijah needed; he knew he had prevailed! He told his servant, â...Quickly then, on your way. Tell Ahab, âSaddle up and get down from the mountain before the rain stops youââ (1 Kings 18:44 MSG).
Can you see the pattern? Elijah prayed first, made power available, and then gave the word. Thatâs the key! After youâve had your intense prayer session, then you can speak forth ârhemaâ (Godâs Word), and youâll be able to change things in your life, your family, your city, and even the world, glory to God!
PRAY
Dear Father, I pray for the nations of the world today that your will and purpose be established everywhere. May the hearts of leaders and those in authority be yielded to do and follow whatâs right. I declare that the power and influence of those who have set their hearts to do evil be cut off, and their desires thwarted, in Jesusâ Name! Amen.
